Random Dozen

1. Have you ever fired a gun or shot a bow and arrow?

I fired a gun when I was younger and I hated it.

2. Do you know where your childhood best friends are?

Yes, I have found most of them on Facebook :)

3. Do you usually arrive early, late, or on time?

I am usually early, I hate arriving late to anything and people who arrive late irk me.

4. Are you more of a New York or California type?

California, I like sunshine and the ocean.

5. Do you have a special ring tone?

Umm I have several, but my general ring tone is "How Great Is Our God"

6. What is your favorite type of chip?

Cheetos....Is that a chip?

7. Best comedy you've ever seen is ....

hmmm, I'm not sure. I really liked The Proposal that was a pretty funny movie.

8. Have you ever cut your own hair? To quote Dr. Phil, "How'd that work for ya?"

Yes and it was not pretty. I had to get it fixed immediately.

9. If you were going to have an extreme makeover, would you rather it be about your house or your personal self?

My house, I think I am too big of a chicken to go under for vanity's sake.

10. Are you allergic to anything?

Not really Allergic, but I can't drink anything with whole milk or heavy whipping cream in it.

11. Why is it so hard to change?

Because it is so hard to give up the life styles we are accustomed to. Going into the unknown or doing something out of the norm is always stressful.

12. One last question dedicated to February love: CS Lewis said, "To love is to be vulnerable." Please share one example of that assertion or share any thought you'd like to about this topic.

When you give someone your whole heart you are vulnerable to what they are going to do with that love. Is that what you meant???

Sleep Deprived

All these posts of pictures with people and animals sleeping was probably God’s way of saying you need to rest up :

So Stinkin Cute , Sleep Tight My Angels , As I lay Me Down To Sleep

Because this week the hubby has been out of town and guess what, I have not had a good nights sleep since Monday.

I am so tired I can’t stand myself right now.

Every night I have been so stinkin’ tired, but I fall asleep only to wake-up an hour later and then I hear every noise known to man in my house and it freaks me out. Not to mention my dog and child have been sleeping with me because I am a chicken like that and I get to listen to the melody of them snoring all night.

And for some reason my dog thinks that a queen size bed is not big enough and feels the need to kick me all night…

Is it sad that I can’t wait for my husband to get home today for the shear fact that I will be able to sleep tonight.

90 Days

1. Are you reading the Bible instead of other things in your life or in addition to other things?
I am not reading any other books at the moment.
2. If you are struggling with your reading, are there activities that you can replace with Bible reading rather than reading in addition to your current activities? What activities can you eliminate?
I just need to find some more quiet time. Today is a holiday so I am going to try to catch up.
3. What advice can others reading with us give to those still trying to find their Bible reading rhythm?
This is something you are doing for yourself not for everyone else, so if you fall behind or you are having a hard time finding time don’t fret you will finish when you finish and you will be happy you did :)

I’ll take a dozen randomness please

1. Are you pleasant when you're ill, or are you a grumpy, fussy patient?

Grumpy and whiny, it is the only time I am allowed to be so why not work it for all it’s worth ;)

2. When you find out that school is canceled (due to inclement weather) what is your gut reaction?

We rarely have this unless there is a tropical storm or hurricane, but my first reaction is woooohooo, more beauty rest for mama. I hate school as much as my son does.

3. What is one domestic skill you wish you could improve?

Cooking, I do an okay job, but I wish I could make more really cool dishes.  I would also love to be able to decorate cakes and stuff.

4. Do you decorate your home for Valentine's Day?

Nope

5. What song is on your mind today?

A New Day Has Come by Celine Dion….Love that song.

6. Do you prefer contemporary movies or classic?

Contemporary

7. How well do you "compartmentalize" your feelings? For example, how well can you put aside a really trying moment to deal with the immediate situation which is not related to the trying moment, e.g., putting aside a tiff with your spouse in order to finish wallpapering a room.

I’m pretty good at hiding my feelings, but then I let them build up and eventually explode.

8. What is the first thing that attracted you to your spouse? (Or if you're single, to your best friend.)

He was cute and very sweet with a great body….too much information…sorry about that image

9. When was the last time your heart raced?

hmmm, I’m not sure.

10. What are your memories of Valentine's Day at school?

Roses from boyfriends, Candy and card from friends.

11. If you were going to receive candy for Valentine's Day, which would you prefer?

Reeses, I know it is not elaborate or anything, but I love them.

12. Red or pink?

Red

Shutter pics

The Challenge:

Take a picture of something in action, you can freeze the action, or purposely blur it to show movement.

I am not sure if I did this right I kept messing with the shutter speed while my son was running around being a ninja, but I never really got a blur effect from the motion? I think I need some more practice.

Here were the tips from Beth and Lolli’s blog:
* The longer the shutter stays open, the more light that comes into the camera, and the more likely you will be to get blurred motion.
* The shorter the shutter stays open, the less light that comes into the camera, and the more likely you will be to freeze the action in your shot.
* Use a fast shutter speed to stop action, or for fast-moving subjects.
* Use a slow shutter speed to let in more light (in lower light situations), for stationary subjects, or to show motion.

I think I can, I think I can

90 Day Bible Journey, Week 2

Here are some questions my sis-n-law Patrice posted for us to answer:
1.  Have you tried to read the entire Bible before?  Why or why not?
Yes, I really would just like to know more of the stories in the Bible not just the ones we have known since childhood.
2.  If you have tried to read the Bible in its entirety, what challenges did you face in fulfilling your desire?  Where did you start?  If you did not finish, how far did you get?
I have never completed reading the Bible because I am going to be honest I just get lazy and some of the books are just more interesting than the others.  I always start at the beginning, which may be my problem since I have probably read Genesis a good 50 times in it entirety and yet I still find things I did not before….hmmmm….  I am not sure where I left off all umpteen times I have tried to read it in full.
3.  What have you found to be difficult and what have you found to be rewarding in your attempts to read the Bible in 90 days?
I think it is difficult to retain as much when reading it so quickly..  I find myself going back and re-reading sections that I just read because I am completely lost.  Hence the reason I am still only in the middle of Exodus image .  I will catch up though.  The rewarding part is knowing I am not alone as the only person on the planet not to have read the bible from front to back and that I have support.
4.  For those who may be struggling, what advice can you give to help encourage them to stick to the goal?
Try your best and if you fall behind don’t stress out, this is not a competition.  Whether you finish in 90 days or 180 days we still love you and so does Jesus image .

5.  What excites you most about reading the entire Bible in 90 days?
That I will finally have read the Bible and I will have more knowledge of what God has laid out before us.
Here are the verses for the week if you want to join in:
Monday:  Leviticus 1:1 through Leviticus 14:32
Tuesday:  Leviticus 14:33 through Leviticus 26:26
Wednesday:  Leviticus 26:27 through Numbers 8:14
Thursday:  Numbers 8:15 through Numbers 21:7
Friday:  Numbers 21:8 through 32:19
Saturday:  Numbers 32:20 through Deuteronomy 7:26
Sunday:  Deuteronomy 8:1 through Deuteronomy 23:11
Have a blessed Monday.
I AM THAT I AM.

Sleep Tight My Angels

Brad and Caleb Sleeping
This is not the best quality photo, but it is my favorite for the week. My son has not been feeling well this week so there has been a lot of sleeping on the couch and crawling in bed with us in the middle of the night. I could not pass up taking this photo the other day, they were so sweet.

It’s Okay honey we just need to go to the Emergency Room.

Explain a time there was an emergency. What “mode” did you go into? Freaking out, calm and collected, etc.
When my son was two him and a friend were playing on my exercise trampoline with his cars, using it as a race track. They got really tickled about something and my son was laughing so hard he rolled off the trampoline and right into his mini rocking chair. The one in this pic:
imageHe came running to me crying hysterically and I scooped him up and was holding him to me trying to comfort him. My sister happened to be at the house that day and she was sitting with me holding my nephew and she looked at me and in her best don’t freak out voice she said
“Jennnny”.
I pulled him away from me and all I could see was blood all over the left side of his face and on my shirt.
This was my first Oh My Goodness my child is hurt moment, sure he had boo boos before, but this was not a boo boo there was a gash in my sons head.
I was shocked that I did not panic, I took him into the kitchen and washed the blood away and put pressure on it til it stopped bleeding and then put a band aid on all while I was trying to calm him down saying it would be okay.
In the mean time my sister called the pediatrician, the father of his friend so he could come get him and my Mom since we needed her to ride with us to keep him awake. 30 minutes later myself, my son and my mom were headed to the ER where they put him in a straight jacket, they don’t call it that but that is what it looked like, and applied Dermabond.

It was a pretty quick visit, but I could have done without the straight jacket, trying to hold a 2 year old still while the numbing agent takes affect was not the highlight of the ER visit let me tell ya. Now he has the just the faintest scar. P1040457

Just Random

1. Do you use the labels various charities send you as “free gifts?”

Today Is The Day

I am joining in with my sister-n-law, Patrice, to read the Bible in 90 days.

It is sad, but I have never read the Bible cover to cover. I always skip the chapters that start listing who was related to who, because to be honest those parts confuse and bore me.
