Weekly Wrap Up

Monday we spent the day picking up some more things needed for the pool then worked in the yard, swam & grilled. It was a nice peaceful Memorial Day!

~

Tuesday I was at my sons old elementary school helping with a play. I have helped this particular class for the last 4 years so I was glad to be asked back to help with the set and behind the scenes stuff.

~

Wednesday was our civics field trip for the junior high.

We went to Tallahassee and visited the Supreme court, the old capitol building & the new capitol building.

Had Lunch at FSU stadium

Little fact I did not know: You can get a minor in circus at FSU!! Who knew?

Then we headed back to the capitol building and I snapped some pics of the police memorial.

Last sight seeing stop was Mission San Luis. It is a replica formed from old artifacts of a community where Apalachee Indians and Spaniards lived together back in the 1700’s. It was pretty cool. So if you are ever in Tallahassee check it out.

Our tour guide wanted to stop by the Governors Mansion on our way to dinner since we had a little time so here is a picture of the mansion and a statue dedicated to the children on Florida in front of it.

I may have needed a cold adult beverage after that 10 hour day with a bunch of junior high kids. Winking smileRolling on the floor laughingSmile with tongue out

Today is the last performance at the elementary school & a luncheon with their parents. So proud of those kids!! Open-mouthed smile

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Sweet Treat Sunday

I saw this around the blogosphere and then my sis n law made them so I had to try them.

I love love love almond joys and this recipe is a healthier version. I got the Chocolate Covered Coconut Bars recipe from Art and The Kitchen.
The recipe calls for:
1 cup of organic coconut oil
2 cups unsweetened shredded coconut
1/4 cup of organic honey
12 ounces organic dark chocolate
Directions:
Warm coconut oil just until liquefied then add shredded coconut and honey. Combine the above ingredients.
Line shallow baking dish with parchment paper then press mixture into dish. Freeze or refrigerate until solid.
Melt chocolate and spread over coconut and enjoy.

~

Okay here’s the deal mine are the healthier unhealthy version because I only had sweetened coconut and nestle milk chocolate chips. So I did not use honey since the coconut was sweet enough. I also put them in a mini muffin tin like my sis-n-law did to make them bite sized treats.  I topped the coconut mixture with slivered almonds to make it more like a almond joy. Then I poured the melted chocolate on top before I refrigerated them because I can’t read directions! Winking smileRolling on the floor laughing

I kinda made a mess with the chocolate  ↑Smile with tongue out

Soo yummy. Thumbs up
Excuse my horrendous nails!!!

Wishes

wish

Yesterday I heard twice “Your wishing your life away”. Once was when someone said, “I wish it was Friday.” and the other time was when I said, “I wish it was summer vacation already.”

That got me thinking. How many times do I say I wish….. and who is that really affecting besides me??

I mean when you think about it your trying to fast forward your life which in turn is fast forwarding everyone's around you.

I would not only be wishing it was summer vacation already but that would also mean I would be wishing Bub is one step closer to his last year in junior high. Or when I say I wish I was already skinny again. I mean that could be two years from now which is also wishing Bub was closer to being a young adult & off to college which I definitely am not wishing for.

I guess what it comes down to is I really don’t want to wish for anyone else's life around me to speed up because for some that would mean them being one breath closer to leaving this earth and I definitely don’t want to wish for that either. Some people are wishing for one more hour with someone and hear I am wishing for time to speed up. How selfish of me right?….Thinking smile

I don’t know just made me think. So I am going to try really hard not to say that anymore…not saying I won’t ever but I think I will think more about what I am actually wishing for when I say it.Winking smile

~

i wish you enough

More Bzz-Paula's Choice Clear Line Comparison & First Impression

You already know I love the 2% BHA liquid that I received in March from Bzz Agent if not you can read about it here.

So much so I ordered their new Resist 2% BHA.

But before I could try it Bzz Agent sent me a new invitation to try Paula’s Choice Clear skin clearing line for acne prone skin for free.

I just received the products day before yesterday and as you know I had been using the Proactiv + with my Paula’s Choice 2% BHA which was working good, but I literally just ran out of the  cleanser for that line so this was perfect timing.

I am going to do a little comparison here just so you know what the difference is in both of these lines:

Proactiv + has a Skin Smoothing Exfoliator which contains 2.5% Benzoyl Peroxide, a Pore Targeting Treatment which contains 2.5 % Benzoyl Peroxide & a Complexion Perfecting Hydrator which contains .5% Salicylic Acid.

Paula’s Choice CLEAR line has a Pore Nourishing Cleanser with no active acne fighting ingredient that I can see, a Anti Redness Exfoliating Solution which contains 2% Salicylic Acid & a Daily Skin Clearing Treatment that comes in 2.5% Benzoyl Peroxide for the regular version and 5% for the extra strength.

So they are kinda comparable because they both use benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid in their lines but not really in the same way if that makes sense.

Now here is my first impression which I will update in a few weeks once I have given the product a fair amount of use:

The pore normalizing cleanser was just a normal cleanser to me and I had no irritation. The anti-redness exfoliator was kind of just like the 2% BHA liquid which was nice

but…

I accidently started with the extra strength skin clearing treatment and it did not like my skin at all. My skin was immediately itchy and dry from it↓

Which I found odd since I have used the Proactiv extra strength lotion (↓) for years before trying Proactiv + and it contains 7% Benzoyl Peroxide and I never had that issue?? So not sure why that happened…

I switched to the Paula’s Choice regular strength skin clearing treatment with only 2.5% benzoyl peroxide and added my Derma-e refining vitamin A crème and did not have the dry, itchy issue yesterday so if you have sensitive skin I would not get the extra strength version from the Paula’s Choice Clear line to start!

Me & Bub will be testing this product out so I will keep you posted in the coming weeks!! Open-mouthed smile

Good Times Good Times…..
If you missed all the fun it is herehere for your viewing pleasure Rolling on the floor laughing
It has been a long process to put it back up that started on March 16th.
There was a lot of digging, supervising Matt & myself, muscle aches, Advil, giving up, trying again, leveling, measuring & finally getting all hands on deck to put this beast back up.
Matt was secretly hoping he would have his new giant sandbox for forever!!

But we did it and it looks great! Bub has already been in for a swim twice Smile

Now if school would just be over so we could start our fun filled days at the poolIsland with a palm tree.

Saturday Standout -Turbie Twist

I have been eyeing these for a while at Bed Bath & Beyond and finally purchased them this week.

And oh my goodness I love them. I don’t know what kept me from getting them all this time.
They are so light weight so they don’t strain your neck like a regular towel would which is great because I tend to walk around the house like this until after I put my makeup on.

(my BB&B did not have them in prints but amazon does and they are so cute so I see a order of those in my near future!!!)
