Joy

I got my fishful thinking newsletter yesterday and I have to agree we all could use a little more joy in our lives:)

If spring were a feeling it would be joy. The burst of color, the return of flowers and birds, less darkness, more sunlight — just taking a walk around my neighborhood makes me feel exuberant, playful, happy. Joy is an important emotion to cultivate in your family. The feeling of joy brings cheerfulness, zest, a sense of optimism and hope — it makes us want to move and dance and be with others. And research on positive emotions, including joy, shows that joy not only feels good, but it also builds important resources. Positive emotions help facilitate resilience, they contribute to creative thinking, and they help maintain social connections. Having more joy in your family isn't hard. All it requires is an awareness of what brings each member of the family joy and then carving out time to devote to those activities.

30x5-100 wrap up

4/14 - walk on my treadmill for 30 minutes
4/15 - walk in even though it was late. Ends up when it is almost bath time children suddenly have a desire to go for a walk who knew:) We just went around the block, which was about 20 minutes so not quite 30, but close.
4/16 - Today I did a lot of moving since it was the Honor Roll cookout at our school and we were busy from 9a.m.-1:30p.m. getting set up, running around the school, serving the kids, taking down everything and clean up
4/17 - Nada, Migraine
4/18 - Rummage Sale at school, moved a lot, ate dinner with my BF's parents that are moving (I will post pics later) -- ended up with a Migraine before the night was over..ughhh
4/19 - Nada, Migraine
4/20 - 30 minute Walk
4/21 - Nada, Migraine
4/22 - walk with Bub and Ginger
4/23 - walk with Ginger
4/24 - helped the Jones's set up Garage Sale, moved a lot
4/25 - helped the Jones's with Garage Sale and take down, moved a lot
4/26 - cleaned the pool and cleaned the house (boys and toilets are a gross combination)
4/27 - Helped Mrs. Sue Pack up the house

As for the Food part, during the Migraines I did not want to eat and from being so busy kept forgetting to eat.

So I guess I will post both awards, since I was a little bit of a slacker in the actual exercise departmnet and I need to breathe, but I did move.

Seriously what is wrong with this woman :)

Men's Rights

The other day I was walking out the door and Bub cut in front of me and walked out and here is our conversation.

Me: "Bub that was not polite your supposed to let ladies go first."
Bub: "Why?"
Me: "Um well it's good etiquette, it's just how it is"
Bub: "Well that's just not right when I am older I am going to fight for Men's rights so we can both walk thru the door at the same time"
Me: Laughing hysterically

Flash Back Friday

Well I went to my Mom and Dad's the other day and totally forgot to get my prom picture from her. So here are two photos of me and hubby. Both are taken at the Pennacle awards for my hubby's company. The first picture I was probably a good 20 lbs more than what I weigh now. It was taken November of 2007 while on vacation in California, which was the same year as the Fetal Death and my Best Friend passing away so hence the weight. The second was taken February 2009 while we were on vacation in the Bahamas.

Best Shot: Moving Dinner

Dinner with the Jones Family and Friends.
Mrs. Sue and Mr. Mel are my Best Friend Mindy's parents, Mindy past away August 2007. The young lady in the photos with my son is Mindy's daughter L. My son adores L and she adores him as well. Mrs. Sue and Mr. Mel have lived next door to my parents since I was 11 years old and they have just sold their home and are moving quite a ways away so we had a going away get together with them. Although L will still only be 2 1/2 hours away living with her Father, Mrs. Sue and Mr. Mel will be more like 6 or more:( Bub cried, I had not told him they were moving til that night, but I reassured him we will still see them will just have to travel a little further to do so.

Adoption Prayers

Please visit April and Brandon's page @ http://www.livingtolove.com/ .They are in the process of adopting a child and need our prayers. They are also doing some fundraisers since adoption fees can be pretty steep.

I have listed the fundraisers they are doing online below, but please visit their website for more information.

1. Pre-order a cookbook.

2. Donations thru paypal

3. They have a Gallagher guitar (72 Special) of Brandon's grandfathers that they are also trying to sell.

Thanks a bunch

Dinner??

Mama Kat at Mama's Losin' It hosts writers workshop every week and this week here are the prompts: I am going to try to do them all so here goes--

1.) Book review!

Jesus Calling is an awesome book for daily devotional.

2.) When is it okay not to listen to the words? Explain about a song you really love that has lame lyrcis or lyrics you simply don't understand.(writingfix.com)

hmm drawing a total blank.......

3.) Why won't you forget? List six true sentences that begin with the words 'I'll never forget...' Then use all six of your sentences in a paragraph, poem, or longer descriptive piece.

I'll never forget my wedding day to the only man on earth that will put up with me.
I'll never forget the birth of my son even though it was painful it was the best day ever.
I'll never forget Mindy, I miss her a lot.
I'll never forget how blessed I am to have such great friends and family.
I'll never forget all the great times in High school with my friend Shannyn, we did some crazy stuff but we always had a blast.
I'll never forget all the country festivals with my friend Dana, we had so much fun.

I did not write a paragraph, poem or longer description--no time today:)

4.) Write about an interaction you had with a salesman.

I hardly ever have interactions with salesmen. I usually look away and hope that if I can't see them anymore, they can't see me...ahahaha or say no thanks and keep walking.

5.) What's for dinner? I'm starving.

What's for dinner? Good question, since for the last 2 weeks I keep forgetting to pull anything out in the morning to thaw out to fix for dinner. So for the last two weeks it has been, quesadillas, pizza, hot dogs, sandwiches, and wraps. I did manage to make sausage and rice one night. I basically have made anything that did not entail actual cooking. Tonight is no exception, I have been running around like a mad women all day and after school, even though I pulled out ground meat this morning it is not thawed..errr...so back to the drawing board. What's for Dinner --Who knows?? My poor family, I really need to get it together in the dinner department.

Good Morning Let The Stress Begin

I feel like a little ball of stress lately, I have been running around like a crazy lady.
I feel like that movie Ground Hogs Day, because the last two weeks have consisted of this:
  • Waking up a child who does not want to go to school
  • Want to pull my hair out
  • Get to school either drop him off or go in to volunteer
  • Off to run errands and attend appointments
  • Grab a bite to eat, then feel gross because I ate to quick, feel a dull headache coming take some excedrin
  • Back to school to pick up Bub
  • Home to take a 15-20 minute break
  • Try to do homework with an uncooperating participant
  • Want to pull my hair out, head is starting to throb take some more excedrin
  • Then try to find something for dinner because I have yet again forgotten to take something out...errr
  • Hubby gets home late and he is tired and stressed
  • Get food in everyone
  • Baths
  • Me and hubby try to fold clothes, unload dishwasher, run vacuum
  • Try to do a post, too tired and my computer hates me, keeps freezing up....errrr. Me and photobucket are no longer friends. I log onto facebook real fast, check on everyone, get off because my head is starting to pound now.....
  • Take some more excedrin and watch a few seconds of T.V. before my eyes close on me while laying on the couch from the lovely migraine I aquired during the day.

30x5 Breakdown:

  • 4/17 - Nada, Migraine

  • 4/18 - Rummage Sale at school, moved a lot, ate dinner with my BF's parents that are moving (I will post pics later) -- ended up with a Migraine before the night was over..ughhh

  • 4/19 - Nada, Migraine

  • 4/20 - 30 minute Walk

  • 4/21 - Nada, Migraine

  • 4/22 - hopefully no migraine and I can squeeze a walk in today

**Almost Forgot -- Happy Earth Day**

  • Flashback Friday and Best Shot

April’s assignment: Because April is when a lot of high schools hold their proms, It has been dubbed April’s theme as “Black Tie Affair”. It can be photos of you and/or your family dressed up. It doesn’t necessarily have to be “Black Tie,” but rather it can be any occasion that calls for you to be dressed up a little more than usual: prom, formals, theater shows, balls, parties

I seriously think I have lost my formal prom pics, either that or they are at my moms. Only self portraits in this house anyway. I don't know why I thought it would be a good idea to wear black panty house :~)

    I just love this picture
I am so glad he still enjoys a good egg hunt

    Thankful Friday

I have had my days confused all week so I totally forgot to do my post yesterday due to my confusion. So here goes my Thankful Thursday on a Friday:

    • Spring Break last week, to just have a break from all the craziness was a blessing
    • Summer Break is almost here, 34 days to go.
    • For all my blogging buddies
    • That my church did a wonderful Service for Easter Sunday and we had a wonderful Easter with Family and Friends at my sisters.

    Rambling- 30x5

Well yesterday I did get a walk in even though it was late. Ends up when it is almost bath time children suddenly have a desire to go for a walk who knew:) We just went around the block, which was about 20 minutes so not quite 30, but close.

Today I did a lot of moving since it was the Honor Roll cookout at our school and we were busy from 9a.m.-1:30p.m. getting set up, running around the school, serving the kids, taking down everything and clean up. I am exhausted, not to mention Bub had a dentist appointment today that almost dropped the bomb on, I had totally forgot about it till this morning. Then I had to go to my favorite place, the grocery store, after the dentist, then Chick-Fil-A and then finally home. My legs are literally throbbing right now. I did try to get hubs to go for a real walk with me because I wanted to torture myself some more, but he has to fix our pump out back. Seems yesterday it blew something and water was spewing everywhere, Ginger enjoyed it though because she was nice and wet when we brought her in. She loves water, except when its bath time. Well I guess I have rambled enough, Have a great evening.

    Wordless Wednesday & 30x5

    THE SNOBS OF SEAWORLD:)

    30 x 5 UPDATE:

I think these Seals have been sending me subliminal messages all day:

Them:"Be one of the snobby girls and don't do that 30x5 today, I mean there is always tomorrow right?"

Me: "No I will walk when Bub get's home."

Them: "Oh please he is not going to want to do that"

Me: "Oh yes he will" , "Bub you want to go for a walk with Mom",

    Bub: "Maybe later, eye roll"

Me: "o.k., we will go when it gets cooler"

    Bub: "eye roll, sure mom"

Them: "He is not going to go, just blog and facebook some more, we told you there is always tomorrow"

    Me: "Hush please, lalalalala"

O.k. now that ya'll all think I should be committed to the funny farm for talking to myself them, I caved to the snobby Seals, I still want to go walking but it is getting late and I don't see it happening unless hubs will go with me later, because Bub has bailed on the whole idea as of now to partake in swinging outside. There is always tomorrow right?

    New Challenge and Vacation Photos

Linda has a new idea to torture challenge us:) For this challenge we're going to continue moving our 30 minutes for 5 days per week for two weeks, but also cut out one 100 calorie snack a day, such as the chocolate easter eggs that are calling my name as I type. You are saying no to the 100 calories so you can say yes to something like a flatter tummy, which is my personal goal. If you want to join in, click the button and head over to Linda's and leave a comment.

Here are some collages of our photos from our vacation this past week. We had a lot of fun.

    Happy Easter

    Easter Joy

    Jesus came to earth,
To show us how to live,
    How to put others first,
How to love and how to give.

Then He set about His work,
    That God sent Him to do;
    He took our punishment on Himself;
He made us clean and new.

    He could have saved Himself,
    Calling angels from above,
    But He chose to pay our price for sin;
He paid it out of love.

Our Lord died on Good Friday,
But the cross did not destroy
    His resurrection on Easter morn
That fills our hearts with joy.

Now we know our earthly death,
Like His, is just a rest.
    We'll be forever with Him
In heaven, where life is best.

So we live our lives for Jesus,
Think of Him in all we do.
Thank you Savior; Thank you Lord.
    Help us love like you!

It doesn’t necessarily have to be “Black Tie,” but rather it can be any occasion that calls for you to be dressed up a little more than usual: prom, formals, theater shows, balls, parties

In honor of my guest blogger Patrice, I decided I would post her senior Prom Picture. Aren't they such a cute couple:)

For the life of me I can not find my Prom or Homecoming formal pics might have burned them, only pics taken before we left, so here is my senior prom BB (before braces). I look concerned??
The first two are from the Believe show at Seaworld, AMAZING:) When I was young I wanted to be a Vet or work at Seaworld, niether one came to be, the closest I came was having a dog that was black and white. I loved this show, the Killer Whales still amaze me.
I love this pic of Bub at Seaworld

    Thursday Wrap up of 30x5

I have been on vaca all week in Orlando. We came down to go to Seaworld and Aquatica. It has been a blast. Needless to say I have walked my 30 minutes atleast 12x a day and I swam most of the day Monday and plan to again today, since it will be back in the 80's . Hopefully that is causing my tummy to melt away and I will be so skinny when I get home if I turn side ways you won't be able to see me..hahaha..not going to happen.. This tummy from having a kid does not go away or else I am doing something wrong here?? I would gladly appreciate anyone with tips on how to lose the tum tum.

Well how has this experience changed my life..hmmm..That was the question right?:
    • I have gained new blogging friends
    • I don't feel so bad when I can't get motivated, because now I know their are other slackers just like meI am not alone;)
    • I have walked my little tush off all in the name of 30x5, because I did not want to disappoint Linda or my blogging friends, nothing like being bullied encouraged to get you motivated to exercise.
    • I actually feel better since I am getting off my rump and not being a big ole blog potato all day.
    • I have gained a new appreciation for Kashi Bars.
    • Still hate my treadmill, but it is a mean to an end:(
    • I hope I have lost a pound or two, but I have no scale on vaca to tell me??

Can't wait for the next challenge Linda :)

    Caramel Popcorn Day

Hello everyone, it's day 2 of the guest blogger, Patrice! When Jenny asked me to write on her blog, she gave me permission to do whatever I wanted to do. A little trusting on her part, but she is going to blog for me, when me & Hubby embark on our mission trip in July, so I think she knew I would be good!!
Button is no longer there cause photobucket sucks ;)

First make sure that you grab Jenny's button. I made this for her today!! Another goodie in my week long of making bling for her!

Did you know that today is Caramel Popcorn Day? Yep it's true, and if you are like me, any day is popcorn day and if you want to add a little caramel to it, I for one will not stop you!
I love popcorn, and yes, I do get a little giddy when I hear the microwave humming and the small yet increasing pops that happens as my bag gets bigger! I love to sit and watch tv with a big 'ol bag of this yumminess!!

I am not that creative when it comes to popcorn concoctions, but I do love popcorn that is covered in chocolate, but that is about the extent of my popcorn craziness. What about you? Do you have a crazy recipe that you use when making popcorn, or are you just a butter kinda of person?

    Let Me Introduce Myself...

Let me introduce myself, My name is Patrice and I am here to be a "Guest Blogger" for Jenny while is and her family are on their fabulous vacation. I guess a little background info on me might help...I am Jenny's sister-in-law, but I consider her more like a sister than anything. I married her older brother Jeremy in 1991 and we live in Tennessee with our three children. I have been blogging a little over a year and you can read about my crazy life here for more info on me!

To start my guest blogging week off, I thought it would be fun to "accessorize" Jenny's blog for the week, and today I added a little Easter bling to her header! During this week, I will also add some bling to her sidebar and make a button for you to grab as well! I think she will be thrilled...hopefully! Everyday I will add something new, so stop in to take a peek at least. I am looking forward to getting to meet some new friends this week through Jenny's blog as well as some mutual bloggy friends as well!

    Spring Break

We are officially on Spring Break as of tomorrow, so I will not be blogging, since I do not have a laptop and my phone is not a Blackberry or Iphone:(--I am so deprived--LOL. My guest blogger will be Patrice and she will be blogging for me as time permits.

I will be doing a lot of 30x5 since we will be walking a lot, so don't think I am slacking my 30x5 friends. I hope everyone has a great week.

I leave you with a new yummo product I found this week at the store and a video:

I could not find the Pumpkin Spice Flax that Linda
was talking about on her blog the other day, but I did find these and oh my goodness they are good and taste just like pumpkin pie.
I love this song, it breaks up a little in the video, but the video is really great: Why by Nichole Nordeman

The Power of Your Love does this ever Sunday. Join in with just a song, a Scripture or a scene that is particularly touching to you to share and honor our Lord.

    Best Shot and Flashback Friday

I know I should only post one, but I could not decide, I love the 1st picture because I got a good shot of Bub jumping off the swing. The 2nd picture I love because it is of Bub and Daddy looking at his resurrection eggs and going thru the story of Easter.

April’s assignment: Because April is when a lot of high schools hold their proms, It has been dubbed April’s theme as “Black Tie Affair”. It can be photos of you and/or your family dressed up. It doesn’t necessarily have to be “Black Tie,” but rather it can be any occasion that calls for you to be dressed up a little more than usual: prom, formals, theater shows, balls, parties…

I have not had a chance to go digging for homecoming and prom pics so here is a picture of our family at my sisters wedding. I was maid of honor and Bub was ring bearer. Doesn't he look so cute in his tux, we could not get him to take his hand out of his mouth.
