Last year my sister-n-law Patrice and my nephew DJ went on their very first International mission trip to the Dominican Republic. It was a life changing event for the both of them. They worked in a community called La Represa building a church for the community. The outpouring of love from these sweet people was such a blessing to them. This community had been praying for 13 years for someone to come and help them and when they showed up they were so excited. They spent time with children in the small community doing daily bible school lessons and each afternoon a few of the ladies from their group would meet with the women of the community. They taught them how to embroider and spent time talking, learning and worshiping our Lord with these ladies. Each day they worked on building the church and by the week end the walls were erected. It was very hard for them to leave to come home. Patrice saw D.J. grow in so many ways during that week and we are all very very proud of him. It was an amazing week that opened their eyes to a whole new world. They have committed themselves to international missions and the need to spread the love of our Savior to those who are so faithfully praying and willing to learn and are so very gracious to allow them into their homes to talk about our Lord. 106_0817
Sadly, DJ has conflicting schedules this summer and will not be returning. The good news, after much prayer, Jeremy, my brother, will be taking his place. Their trip this year to the Dominican Republic will be July 11th through July 19th. Their church is again partnering with World Servants and this year they are going to a community called San Cristobal. San Cristobal is a small improvised community with much need. It’s a perfect place to represent Christ to people in need of a Savior, sharing the Gospel and displaying the love of God to those in need, giving them hope for a better future.

They are asking for you to prayerfully consider partnering with them two ways on this mission trip. First, they are looking for people who will commit to pray for them as they prepare for the trip, while they are there, and when they return home. Secondly, they are in need of people to support them financially. Last year Patrice sent a similar letter and the outpour of love and financial support was truly remarkable. This year, again she is asking for support. This trip will cost them around $1650.00 each. If you would like to make a donation to support this life changing commitment that they have embarked on please visit her blog at the link on the top and bottom of my post she has a paypal account set up or a really neat idea in which you buy a brick with an inscription on it but she explains it better.

If you have any questions about the mission trip that they are going on, you can go on the World Servants website at www.worldservants.org for more information. Please pray for them and the commitment that the Lord has laid before them as they prepare for another life-changing event and for the lives that they may touch.

  2. Way to go Jenny. Nice advertisement. I have been to DR myself and can tell you that there is poverty beyond your wildest imagination. Places like that make you thankful that you live here.
